Friedrich Drachsel Edler von Drachenhorst
A Palette of Depth and Discipline – Designed for Clarity, Comfort, and Calmness
Suite Nr. 1 pays tribute to Friedrich Drachsel Edler von Drachenhörst, one of Weissensee’s respected historical figures — a nobleman whose commitment to culture, community, and early tourism development shaped the character of the region. His residence, Villa Augusta — acquired in 1910 — once stood just across from the living-room windows of this suite, a quiet landmark of refinement in Techendorf. In honour of his legacy of refinement and intellectual poise, the apartment interprets his spirit through a masculine, stoic, disciplined, and elegantly understated design language. Measuring 60.5 m², Suite Nr. 1 comfortably accommodates 4–6 guests. Two bedrooms — one intimate, one more spacious — are wrapped in deep tones, layered textiles and warm light. The living and dining room opens to generous windows and drapery, creating a quiet sense of expansion and ease. The suite opens in tones of charcoal, warm stone, muted greens and tobacco hues — an atmosphere reminiscent of aristocratic study, reimagined through minimalist modernity. Light moves softly across matte textures and sculptural silhouettes, creating a calm, contemplative interior where stillness becomes a form of luxury.

Vintage Pieces with Provenance & Presence
The dining area is defined by an original set of six Model 620 dining chairs, designed by Silvio Coppola and produced by Bernini or Fratelli Montina in the 1960s–1970s. Icons of Italian mid-century design, these chairs embody clarity, solidity, and functional elegance. Their robust wooden structure and warm patina bring intellectual gravity into the room — as if they were made for thoughtful conversations and slow, noble evenings.
In the reading corner stands a remarkable hand-carved sculptural wooden chair, likely crafted in the mid-20th century. Originally crowned with an intricately carved wooden head, the piece now remains in its pure, essential form — expressive, imperfect, almost creature-like. It acts not simply as seating, but as a quiet sculpture, adding a layer of artistic depth to the suite.
At the center of the suite stands a custom-made, handcrafted brutalist dining table, finished in a manner reminiscent of the Shou Sugi Ban technique. Through a process of deep staining and textural treatment, the wood takes on the atmospheric qualities of charred timber — a matte, near-black surface with a pronounced grain and sculptural presence.
Monumental yet restrained, it anchors the room with quiet authority, becoming a point of balance between elemental tradition and contemporary design.
A masculine, intellectual sanctuary where history shapes atmosphere, and vintage design becomes a living narrative.
The living room features a small handcrafted wooden relief with rhythmic geometric carvings, its texture illuminated to cast a play of shadow and pattern across the wall. Though contemporary, it resonates with primitive forms, echoing the tactile honesty of earlier craftsmanship.
Suspended above the dining table, a true icon of late-20th-century glass artistry — a vintage original Murano smoky-glass chandelier by Venini, model Archita 48 S — becomes both a luminous source and a sculptural centerpiece. Its presence feels almost celestial, diffusing the space with a soft, amber-toned glow while gently reflecting off dark surfaces and textured materials. The light it casts is not merely illumination, but atmosphere: noble, ceremonial, and quietly theatrical.
The private terrace overlooks the neighboring roofs and gardens — the same landscape the families of Weissensee would have seen centuries ago. It’s a place to slow down with a morning espresso, feel the crisp mountain air, and watch the lake light shift between the trees.
Each material of this suite was selected for its tactile honesty — a quiet nod to the values Friedrich von Drachenhorst represented.
